Kansas Rural Center

KRC is led by and for farmers and ranchers who strive to help each other and their rural or urban communities grow a healthy food and farming system here at home, in Kansas. We envision a future of thriving family farms, revitalized communities, a clean environment, a healthy local and regional food system, and viable livelihoods for farmers, including opportunities for the next generation who will grow our food.

KRC’s Beginning Farmer and Rancher Program features instruction on business formation and management, record-keeping, access to land and capital, state and federal farm assistance programs, and many more topics.  Throughout this project, farmers and other agriculture professionals will provide the primary instruction for each farmer cohort, with classroom instruction in the winter months and farm tours and workshops during the growing season.  Opportunities for beginning farmers and ranchers to take part in mentorships are also being explored.
